Way too Long Grooming Report:

Accurate forecasting does take some of the thrill out a good storm but it’s thrilling nonetheless. It is hard to beat a three day snow event. I remember after a day of bottomless powder skiing at Squaw Valley. Powder ribbons were a must and, had I a snorkel, it would have been used. It took 11 hours to cross Donner Pass.  Had there been good forecasting in the 19th century I expect the Donner party would have been lost in history.  So too, the “Children’s Blizzard” would have no meaning.  I remember reading about such events and thinking how amazing it would be to have blizzards so powerful that they were actually dangerous.  It never occurred to me that the U.P. has blizzards too; we just bundle up and go play.  I trust that is what you two are doing today.

No grooming on 1/5 due to continued heavy snow.

We plan to start grooming Lower Loop around 9am with Upper Loop next and finishing with the Forestville Singletrack. Anticipate very soft trail conditions. Low tire pressures or snowshoes recommended for those venturing out
