Grooming March 12, 2021

Today’s report is brought to you by Larry and Emily Lewis.  Larry and Emily are Trail  Builders.  Their significant financial contribution helps NTN bring you Great skiing, biking, hiking and the silent sports world we have come to enjoy.  If you see them, please say thanks.  Grooming and grooming reports are brought to you for your skiing, biking and literary(?) enjoyment.  If you enjoy what we do, please consider a financial contribution to support the cause.

Forestville:  Andy reported it was tough going.  He found pockets of slush  that buried him a couple times.  He groomed Noque to 17, animoosh, and Chiwaji bypass.  There are some decent smooth stretches and some occasional bare or slush spots. Expect icy trails today.  Tomorrow’s Goldie Locks skiing may be excellent.

Fit Strip: Continued vary warm temperatures the last few days have taken a toll on the base.  Skiing may be over. Let us know if you have any first hand information.

Big Bay Pathway:  Continued vary warm temperatures the last few days have taken a toll on the base.  Skiing may be over. Let us know if you have any first hand information.

Saux Head:  Continued vary warm temperatures the last few days have taken a toll on the base.  Skiing may be over. Let us know if you have any first hand information.

Snow Bike Trails:

NORTH TRAILS

I am sure some areas have good snow coverage in higher elevations.  Low areas are expected to be bare ground.  Let us know what you find.

South Trails Grooming:  I expect variable conditions similar to the comments above on the North Trails.

Way Too Long Grooming Report

I got an ear full yesterday.  The report gave short shrift to the great grooming report Librettist Maria Grever and for that I do apologize.  In any case, true to her words, ski season has returned to our side (sort of anyway).  We didn’t lose the base but there are bare spots in the typical areas.  The powerlines near the trail head are bare and under the hemlocks you will find icy dirt.  You will find the occasional bare spot where it is open to the sun.  Today’s high temperature is forecast in the 20s with another very cold night.  The base is too thin for ‘Bully grooming so it is Ginzu from now on unless we get a real dump of snow. Tomorrow’s 50f sunny forecast will likely put a real hurt on the base. I am anxious to hear from any of the bold skiers that ring the bell at 510 today. Helmets recommended. I expect the smart skiers will wait for tomorrow’s Goldie Locks zone for a last(?) bell ringing at 510.

See you out there.
